When Elvis died, there was no internet, no 24 hour news, no satelite and the only written evidence was in the newspapers the next day, I would say Jacko’s death was the first such high profile one this multimedia age has really talked about.

I think it is. Elvis wrote none of his songs whilst Michael wrote most of his, including 10 of his 13 Number 1 hits. Elvis was a great performer, Michael was a great performer AND songwriter. Elvis was not a songwriter by any means.

Elvis never wrote any of his songs. Michael wrote 10 of his 13 number 1′s, and most of his other songs too. A lot of people say Elvis had more variety, well it’s easier to have more variety when you get songs handed to you, and you don’t do a single thing to write either the music or lyrics. Michael single-handedly wrote many of his songs, eg Billie Jean and Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough (the list goes on) or at least co-wrote many as well, eg Remember The Time.
